1950s Steel Industrial Engineers
Desk
Manufactured by Leabank England.
Full nut and bolt restoration has
seen the desk stripped to its
component pieces, sandblasted inside
and out then powder coated in gloss
black enamel. The desk was
reassembled using BZP cap head bolts
with stainless steel nylock nuts and
lubricated where necessary. The desk
top has been covered in matt black
desk top linoleum and the central
drawer has been fitted with a
replacement lock and spare key. The
desk comprises three sliding drawers
and a writing slide to the left, a
central drawer and a single drawer,
filing drawer and pen slide to the
right and sat on pontoon legs.
The desk is an excellent quality
piece of furniture originally
designed and constructed to last a
lifetime. Following its extensive
restoration, the desk will no doubt
last another lifetime! The desk has
had a tough previous life and has
encountered a few minor 'dings' over
the years, but in my opinion add to
the toughness of the beast! Very
heavy and a really substantial piece
of furniture - not for the faint
hearted!
